Job Summary The Controller will lead all day-to-day operations of The Dan Marino Foundation to include functional responsibility for accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and grants/fundraising administration.  The Controller will ensure that correct systems and procedures are in place to support effective program implementation and conduct flawless audits.  This position will work closely with department heads to advise management regarding revenue enhancement and cost containment strategies.  The Controller will prepare, analyze and interpret periodic financial reports for management information and control.  With responsibility for overseeing the budget preparation process, the Controller will assist with budget presentations to the Board of Directors.  The position reports to the Chief Operating Officer. Essential Duties:

  • Helps to advance the mission and values of the Foundation
  • Establishes and monitors internal controls and safeguards for receipt of revenues, costs, payables, program budgets and actual expenditures.  Recommends improvements.
  • Coordinates budgeting, budget management and cost controls.  Recommends benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of departments
  • Prepares financial statements
  • Monitors and analyzes monthly operating results against budget.  Interprets financial data and recommends changes to improve systems, financial performance and reporting
  • Presents financial information to senior management in a timely manner
  • Manages and tracks performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines
  • Manages preparation of annual report of actual revenues, transfers and expenses.
  • Works with management to develop 3 – 5 year business plans
  • Prepares financial analysis for contract negotiations and grant management
  • Coordinates all audit activity.  Ensures compliance with local, state and federal financial reporting requirements
  • Supervises staff and oversees daily operations of finance department
  • Assures contract compliance on all grants
  • Works on special projects as needed

Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration; Master's degree preferred.   Licensing as a certified public accountant or certified management accountant is a plus. Experience Requirements 7 - 10 years of solid accounting and finance experience, demonstrated leadership accomplishments and previous supervisory experience. Key Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of economic, finance, accounting, budgeting, auditing,  and cost control principles
  • Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and profitability analysis
  • Knowledge of accounting and reporting software; hands-on knowledge of Quick Books
  • Superior communication skills and ability to explain complex financial concepts; present financial reporting and potential risk areas to senior management
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
  • Ability to define problems, collect/analyze data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to respond effectively and timely to deadlines
  • Financial experience in a non-profit environment is preferred

Employment Specialist

Status: Non-Exempt; Full-time Position Overview: The Employment Specialist role is based in Miami to assist individuals with disabilities by providing job coaching to create and implement a plan to successfully obtain and maintain a competitive employment position.  This role requires administrative and office support activities for staff and supervisors.  Must have own transportation and valid driver's license – travel required throughout service area (Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach Counties). Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop job opportunities for clients
  • Collect, report and maintain data relevant to client's files
  • Seeks job opportunities by developing employer partners
  • Provide clients with information and referrals to job search preparation
  • Maintain confidentiality of work and Foundation related information
  • Coordinate appointments between Employment Specialists and clients
  • Prepare and manage database
  • Work collaboratively with other Employment Specialists in order  to provide adequate supports and services to clients
  • Prepare billing invoices in a timely manner
  • Input notes and update Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors
  • Must have flexible schedule including nights and weekends

Education/Experience: Associate's in Arts degree with 2 years of successful experience in counseling, job placement, job coaching or a public vocational rehabilitation program or equivalent experience in lieu of education is preferred.   Minimum requirements are accreditation for supported employment services from the Florida Department of Children and Families or the Agency for Persons with Disabilities with at least 1 year of developmental disability job coaching experience. Events & Marketing Manager

Events & Marketing Manager

Department:Career Services Position Summary: The Events & Marketing Manager produces financially and operationally successful events while meeting budgetary goals. This position works under the direction of the Director – Program Services in achieving the goals established for each event while keeping with the organization's mission, vision and values.  Events include, but are not limited to: The DMF WalkAbout Autism, Annual Anthony's Runway 84 Luncheon, and any and all third-party fundraisers.  For each event, the Events & Marketing Manager is responsible for the planning and production of events, developing new leads, and event sales (i.e. event expo booths, tickets, team raisers), resulting in an increase to the Foundation's fundraising goals.  The ideal candidate must coordinate elements of multiple events at one time.  Responsible for building teamwork, must be detail-oriented, able to multi-task, and delegate when possible. Education and Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 3 years of previous experience managing large scale events and supervisory experience

Work Experience:

  • Capable of clearly communicating, both written and verbally, with all levels of an organization
  • Demonstrates initiative, creativity and poise
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks while working independently
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Possess a strong  sense of urgency and commitment to get the job done quickly and with high quality
