UM-NSU CARD (Center for Autism and Related Disabilities) is a program of the UM Department of Psychology and NSU's Fischler School of Education and Human Services Programs in Speech, Language & Communication and is a state-funded resource and support program dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with autism spectrum disorders, dual sensory impairments (deaf-blindness) and sensory impairments with other disabling conditions. UM-NSU CARD has offices in Coral Gables, North Miami Beach and Davie. UM-NSU CARD offers an array of constituent and family support, programmatic technical assistance, family and professional training, and public education services.

The Autism Society of Miami-Dade is part of the Autism Society of America founded in 1965. It is a volunteer, parent-based organization, serving approximately 1000 families in Miami-Dade, giving families a place where they can be themselves and not feel alone. The Autism Society of Miami-Dade is committed to providing support and promoting opportunities to enhance the lives of individuals within the autism spectrum and their families and caregivers. Early Steps Early Intervention Program (Part C)
Early Steps provides multidisciplinary developmental evaluations, service coordination, intervention services and other family-centered resources to any Miami Dade County child, birth to three years of age, who may be at risk for disabilities or have a significant developmental delay. In an effort to locate children ages 3 to 5 (preschool age) who exhibit disabilities or delays in development, FDLRS-South Child Find staff provides pre-school screenings of vision, hearing and, upon request, development, speech/language and behavior. Screenings are conducted in early care and education centers, as well as in other facilities in cooperation with health departments, the Early Learning Coalition of Dade and Monroe counties and other community agencies. Child Find staff also assists the Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) Pre-K Diagnostic Teams in providing comprehensive screenings to children referred to Child Find for evaluation.

You may want enroll your child under the Medwaiver Program (at the age of 3). This is a government funded program which will cover therapies, respite care, and other services. There are no income qualifications. Eligibility is based on the participant's diagnosis. However, there is a waiting list.
